Collaboration Between CNU and Italian Revenue Agency: A Forum to Address Regulatory Gaps

In a gesture of openness and cooperation, the Global Intergovernmental Organization CNU has responded positively to the Italian Revenue Agency’s recent request for clarification regarding the revocation of tax codes assigned to CNU-affiliated entities. The Confederation has emphasized its willingness to establish a collaborative dialogue with the Agency to address issues and regulatory gaps arising from the application of Italian laws to high humanitarian purpose trusts.

The CNU, an international organization dedicated to human rights and active in humanitarian projects across over 50 countries, has stressed the need to respect the hierarchy of legal sources. In this context, the organization has expressed its readiness to work with Italian institutions to define a clear regulatory framework, bridging any legislative gaps and offering technical support.

In a letter addressed to the Revenue Agency, CNU reiterated that, where there are doubts or issues regarding the statutes or activities of affiliated entities, it would be prudent to allow for corrections of any discrepancies before proceeding with drastic measures such as the revocation of tax codes. This proactive collaboration could ensure compliant operations and the continuation of the valuable humanitarian work carried out by these entities both in Italy and abroad.

Among imminent activities, CNU highlighted a significant support project for managing the migration situation in Forlì, continuing from humanitarian interventions during recent flooding emergencies in Emilia Romagna. This project, along with other ongoing efforts, aims to enhance support for vulnerable populations, underscoring the importance of a flexible and collaborative approach from Italian authorities.

Through a technical forum between Confederation experts and the Revenue Agency, CNU aims to actively contribute to the creation of clearer and shared regulations that respect the sovereignty of the Italian State while enabling humanitarian entities to operate without undue bureaucratic obstacles.
